There are four things in this world that I love: The Southwest, Toys, Porn, and Cats. Three of those are prevalent in my art, and cats are just fantastic animals. When I was a kid, I had a large collection of toys; everything from Star Wars to Aladdin to Pokemon, but there was a void. I always wanted to have toys of the characters that I had created in my own imagination so that I could have adventures with them alongside Han Solo and Darkwing Duck. Now that I’m a responsible and consenting adult, I do make my own toys. I also buy magazines that represent the more ridiculous parts of society (fashion, weddings, porn) and paint my own characters over them, changing the context and making something interesting out of the soulless culture that we all love. Let’s get married and have sex! OK! A lot of my style is inspired by the kind of art that I grew up with which mainly consisted of Native American art like Kachinas and Saturday morning cartoons. My art is kind of like Animaniacs crossed with Hopi mythology.
